CUIB Stands Out at Week of Scientific Research and Innovation

A student from the Catholic university Institute of Buea once again stood out in the area of research and innovation; senior year student Tchokote Herve won third prize at the 2016 week of excellence organized by the South West Regional Centre for Research and Innovation with his self consult platform.

Self Consult is an online medical network developed by Senior year student Tchokote Herve from the School of Information Technology to ease communication between medical Doctors and patients with a medical search engine that provides reliable information to people about health articles, news, images, hospitals and pharmacies found in their locality. It also sends messages via an integrated SMS system to patients to their mobile devices from verified doctors.

Speaking at the event the Regional Chief of Centre for Scientific Research and Innovation, Sama Anne Eyango said one of the aims of the event is to put science, technology and innovation at the service of the Cameroonian public. The event also gives researchers and innovators a platform to display their findings and also to create a platform for possible collaboration in research.

Representing CUIB was the facilitator of Entrepreneurship Anye Cho Bovynille who expressed satisfaction at the maturity of the students who pitched their business ideas with confidence. While lauding Tchokote Herve and his Self Consult platform which won third prize and made CUIB proud, he encourage other students to follow suit and benefit from the enabling environment CUIB has put in place for them.

According to Sama Anne Eyango the event is a rare opportunity to bring together stakeholders involved in innovative research to the one platform, with this, she said together, they can exploit possibilities of providing sustainable solutions to the economic development of the Southwest Region and Cameroon in general.
