Sr. Mary Kombe Celebrates Ruby Jubilee
Posted on: May 12, 2016 2292 visits> The Catholic University Institute of Buea (CUIB), Religious and a host of friends showed up at the CUIB Economy of Communion village on May 11, 2016 during a Mass to celebrate 40 years of service to the Lord and the Church by Sister Mary Kombe. > During the Mass celebrated by Rev. Fr George Nkeze, he described Sr. Mary as someone of passion, love and character who has stood firm in her belief despite the challenges. He told all present at the Mass that Sr. Mary has lived an exemplary life adding that her desire to stand for the truth and virtue is worth emulating. Drawing from the First Reading and Gospel; Acts 20, 28-38 and John 17, 11b-19 which summarizes that it is easy to be sucked by the riches and earthly desires of the world, Fr. Nkeze applauded Sr. Mary for having the fear of God and above all, representing a clear example of “Sentire Cum Ecclesia” >Childhood friend and schoolmate Egbe Lydia said Sr. Mary has been a part of her life saying she is remarkable in the way she supports and stands by her friends. She added that Sr. Mary is a point of reference to her family and someone they look up to for spiritual and moral counseling. Principal of Christ the King College (CKC) Tiko Sr. Elisabeth Mbinkar lauded the celebrant for her administrative and management savvy, especially during her term of office as principal of the college which saw a lot of innovations and development. she revealed that above all she admires Sr. Mary for her friendly approach to problem solving commending her for her patience and ability to be a good listener. >In her reactions, Sr. Mary Kombe said “When you are overjoyed, you lack words to express yourself”. She went on to say her 40 years of service to the Lord has been years of Mercy and second chances from God. She thanked all who joined her in the celebration concluding that “do continue Praying for me." >In her 40 years of service to the church and God, Sister Mary Kombe has been Mother Superior to the Sisters of Saint Therese of the Child Jesus, teacher and Principal of CKC Tiko and presently a Faculty at the School of Catholic Studies, Director of Human Resource and Vice President in Charge of Administrative Services at CUIB.
